I love to read! How about you? I am in the middle of 5 great books right now and I wanted to tell you about them.
This is my 3rd time through this book. It is short and powerful and honestly who can get enough on this subject?
My husband and I are working through this one. It's slow going, but good stuff. There are lengthy workbook sections after each chapter. Sometimes we only get through one point or one question out of twelve or more!
I've read other shorter bio's on Amy Carmichael. This is a very good one to say the least and I'm not the least bit bored by reading about her life again. I cry about every other chapter reading about the horrific life of the Indians. It is especially hard for me to read about the abuse of the children. Abuse brought on by parents afraid to go against caste. This book will change your life!
This book and it's companion guide are apart of a women's Bible study I'm attending at my new church. I went through this book once before around my freshman year of college. It is interesting looking back at the answers and comparing them to now. Another deep book that examines the dark corners of our lives.
I started reading this book a month or two before we got our first puppy. I have yet to read the last section in the book about actually training your dog. This is an excellent book for dogs that will be apart of your family (aka... live inside and be apart of everyday life.) I didn't agree with everything because I have an outside dog, but I can definitely see where many of the things they say are true. (I just can't do the whole dog in my house thing.) Once we alleviate ourselves of two problems - hopefully this month or next - we can train the dog and be much better friends than we are now!
Last year I made a resolution to read all of the books on my shelf that I had yet to read. Because of that resolution I read approx. 40-50 books last year. At the end of the year I acquired a large number of books due to our christian school closing down, and I am now way behind. I have been rereading several books mostly by accident due to circumstances brought on by others. But, if I own a book, it should be worthy of being read more than once. Maybe by January I will be ready to tackle my new stack of unread books. (and I have yet to dive into my husbands books!)
Just a side note, I counted our books a few weeks ago and we own approx. 515 books. This includes all our children books, Bibles, and cookbooks, but not any schoolbooks, or music books.
How many books do you own? What are reading right now?
Sarah
