When You Feel Overwhelmed

Some days we feel overwhelmed and we don't exactly know why, other days we know why but don't want to fix the problem because it means doing things that we loath or feel too lazy to do that day, other days we just don't feel like we have the time to do it all.

Let me remind you that God has a plan for your day and the more you involve Him in it, the more you feel at peace and many times feel accomplished.

When you feel overwhelmed...

With the dishes - take an extra minute to tell God how you feel about the situation, and then if you don't already, stack like items, silverware together, plates together, bowls, pots and pans. It really makes the job look more do-able.

With the laundry - take an extra minute to tell God how you feel about the situation, then see if you can plan out 1-2 loads a day every day that week and have it under control before the weekend or the beginning of the next week.

With needing to be too many places in a day/week - take an extra 5 minutes to tell God how you feel about the situation, then see if you can cancel or move some appointments, delegate them to someone else, or bring something with you that needs to be done and kill two birds with one stone.

With a relationship - take an extra 15-20 minutes to pray for the relationship, then find a way to be a blessing that person.

With changing diapers or potty training - take an extra minute to tell God how you feel about the situation, then picture yourself with teenagers or grown children, no more story time, no more snuggles, no more tucking in to bed, or singing silly made up songs. And then think about calling that relative or friend who would love to babysit for you and run a little errand or go out to eat with your husband.

With keeping the house clean - take an extra 5 minutes to tell God how you feel about your home, then go clean the room or item you hate cleaning the most, vacuum and pick up in the main room.

With being on your phone/computer too much - take 30 minutes to do your devotions, tell God how you feel about the situation, then plug in your phone in a central but out of the way place. Go outside and take a walk, then make a list of things you need or want to do and get lost in it.

With eating right - set a timer for every hour and each time it goes off ask God to help you make wise food choices. Plan your three meals out the night before and have healthy snacks prepped and bagged for quick access.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

These are only 8 of the common things we can feel overwhelmed with in a day. What are other area's you struggle with? What are some ways you could overcome them? Use this template to continue your list.

42 Questions To Ask Your Spouse On Valentine's Day

If you and your spouse were on the Newlywed game show... would you win? My husband and I are going to a couple's retreat next month and decided to get a head start on it by brushing up on our newlywed gameshow questions. We actually did pretty well the first time through, but we keep giving each other pop quizzes to keep the answers fresh in our minds. Below I've made a list of common couples questions that you and your spouse might find fun to ask each other. 1) What is your spouse's all time favorite movie? 2) What would your spouse request as their "last meal"? 3) What is your spouse's favorite pastime? 4) What percentage of housework would your husband say he does? 5) What flavor of cake did you have at your wedding? 6) What is your spouse's ideal date night? 7) Excluding people, what would your spouse say is their most prized possession? 8) At what specific sport or game will you wife say she is better than you? 9) What is your spouse&#

Day two of our prep work for the Spring Cleaning Challenge! Today I'm going to give you a recipe for window cleaner.  I've also been told that using warm water and a little bit of cornstarch is a great way to clean your windows as well. I don't have a recipe or a ratio for you though. I hope you are gearing up for the Challenge, it's only 7 days away! Don't forget to leave a comment below if you want to join us for the Spring Cleaning Challenge. Sarah

Mom Rules

Being a mom has a whole lot more to do with life than changing poopy diapers, nursing, schooling, dressing, and disciplining. It's when you change that diaper or where you nurse your baby, how you go about schooling and why and how you discipline. I've made a short 3 point list of rules every mom (or parent) should have. It's short and easy to remember so you can quickly think through the questions when parenting. Rule 1 - The Golden Rule Matthew 7:12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the law and prophets." Treat your children as if they are a person, a real person who understand, cares, feels, and dreams. They are not your minions, your slaves, or even yours at all for that matter. They belong to the Lord and they are yours to nurture, love, and teach. They have a soul, and feelings. When debating if you have time to change their diaper, or heat up their lunch, or grab that pair of mittens… remember they have fe
