Nov 30 Thankfulness Photo - Christmas Carols

Wow! I did it! I shot and posted 30 photos for November! I am throughly proud of myself and truly amazed at a few of the shots I got with my camera. I'm finishing off November with a glimpse into my December - Christmas Carols! I will be on the road tomorrow headed home to Missouri and ready to pull out the Christmas decor, music, and merriness!
I am thankful for Christmas carols, no other holiday has so many good songs to sing during it's peak. (No other holiday lasts so long either) I love how Christ centered they are, many of our hymns and songs can become too "problematic us" centered. Really Christmas songs should be sung all year round, they are so good!

Here is my favorite Christmas carol written by Ron Hamilton…

            Born to Die
    On the night Christ was born
    Just before the break of morn,
    As the stars in the sky were fading,
    O'er the place where He lay,
    Fell a shadow cold and gray
    Of a cross that would humble a King.

      Chorus
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      Jesus suffered my sin to forgive;
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      He was wounded that I might live.

    Jesus knew when He came
    He would suffer in shame,
    He could feel ev'ry pain and sorrow.
    But He left Paradise,
    With His blood He paid the price -
    My redemption to Jesus I owe.

      Chorus
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      Jesus suffered my sin to forgive;
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      He was wounded that I might live.

    From His throne Jesus came,
    Laid aside Heaven's fame
    In exchange for the cross of Calv'ry;
    For my gain suffered loss,
    For my sin He bore the cross -
    He was wounded and I was set free.

      Chorus
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      Jesus suffered my sin to forgive;
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      He was wounded that I might live.

    Dearest Lord, evermore
    May Thy cross I adore
    As I follow the path to Calv'ry;
    Of Thy death I partake,
    My ambition I forsake -
    All my will I surrender to Thee.

      Chorus
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      Jesus suffered my sin to forgive;
      Born to die upon Calv'ry,
      He was wounded that I might live.

      Thank you for all who joined me this November in my trek of photography and remembering Thankfulness. I learned from myself this month and found many theme's challenging. I will not be continuing to post everyday or even to post pictures, but please drop by occasionally as I will be continuing with other things. (I just haven't decided what quite yet!)

How to Make Your Apartment More Homey - Part 5

Welcome to part 5 of my mini series "How to Make Your Apartment More Homey". Once you get a grasp on the first four topics you've really got something going for you. These last two steps are definitely not the meat of the problem.  Today we will focus on - The Color Palette. A little bit of color theory wouldn't hurt anyone. I realize that we are alway feeling the need to try something new and be a little different. It's called fashion, and that's okay. Be different! Make a statement! It's good to try something new. But if it's ugly just say so, don't lie to save your pride. Your pride has already been painted all over that new yellow couch!  You can google a basic color wheel and the different ways to pair the colors or most people have an eye for what looks good together. It's usually a good thing to stick with the same hue (bold with bold, or pastels with pastels, and burnt colors with burnt colors) but even that isn't alwa...

2025 Reading Challenge

 Today Rural Simplicity is bringing you a Reading Challenge for the new year!  25 Books in 2025.      This is a very personalized list that came about when my favorite reading challenge people didn't put out a reading challenge for next year. I plopped myself down in front of my large TBR (to be read) stack and started making a list of categories.       I am going to walk you through my list in comparison to my TBR stack to give you an idea of where you could start. But like any good reading challenge you will nudge it this way and that to fit your needs and lifestyle. One thing I would not recommend is  fitting it to your likes.  One point of a reading challenge is to broaden your perspective and get you out of your comfort zone. One last point to address is that it's okay to not finish the challenge by December 31st. Again your goal is to read, not finish, or rush, or stress out. Just read and enjoy. Let it soak in slowly and cons...

Recent Reads & Reviews

My book list has gotten out of control again and at the worst time. I was in the middle of book mania, doing Bible study homework weekly, started a Charlotte Mason book club with weekly readings, and of course I had a small(ish) stack of books that I was in the middle of reading or about to start on my nightstand... and then pregnancy brain hit. Oh dreaded pregnancy brain - where a poor, tired mom now can't even do the simplest tasks without messing everything up.  (for those of you who keep up to date with my posts, this is the very same reason there was no post last week.) This has definitely been the worst case of it so far, and reading a book is not even on my radar right now. I'm pretty good with a few school books in the morning with my kindergartener, but by the time I have a moment to read, my brain has long ago checked out. So here is a list of books I've finally gotten around to finishing, or finished in the last few weeks or months and simply haven't ha...
