The Lagging Lass - Patience

The Lagging Lass

Little Baby bent her knee
A critter on the ground to see
A careful, watching, wondering eye
Each crawling bug she quickly spies
Pointing, poking, babbling so
Until Her mother thoroughly knows
No object from her sight is missed
No item does her grasp resist
Till pulled away by higher cause
Tiny fingers happily pause

Every mother understands the long road of patience when it comes to children. And I don't necessarily mean temper tantrums, picky eaters, and the like. Just everyday cute stuff, that feels impatiently long when you are in a hurry.

Children are God's best teachers! He planted little test givers all over the world. He made them cute, irresistible, and lovable. And then he gave them a Mommy test and said-  "make sure she takes this everyday at least once!" I don't know about you but I hated school, homework and tests. But I love children, and daddy's and home. So, I got to work and set up shop. Daddy. Check! Home. Check! Baby #1. Check!! And then came the test. At first it was only a few small ones. And then... she learned to walk.

I know you would never trade your home, family, or child for anything in the world. In retrospect (after you've failed the test) you realize how much that little one is teaching you. God knows who we need. Which spouse will offset our faults and qualities, and he also knows which attitude our little one needs, to help us grow up, and finally turn out the way our parents always hoped we would. Babies are like little U-turn signs. When you see one coming, you'd better realize there's no going forward with life the way you want. You'll be turning a 180 and running right back to everything your Momma taught you. Yes, all those things you swore you'd never do.

Make your parents proud by showing them you learned something as a child under their roof. Make your Father in heaven proud by showing Him that you love Him most, and want a family that exalts Him above all else. Make your children proud to be apart of your family. Show them that their family is the best family that ever lived. Every Mother, and Grandmother would agree that the best Mother's Day gift is seeing a healthy, happy, obedient child...AND Mom!

Patience is easier for some, you can assume the mom with 9 kids has more patience than the mom of 1. A mom of 3 has had more "tests" than a mom of 1. Chose your battles wisely; because your children are grading you on the outcome.

Enjoy the day, enjoy the test,
love your children, don't be stressed!

42 Questions To Ask Your Spouse On Valentine's Day

If you and your spouse were on the Newlywed game show... would you win? My husband and I are going to a couple's retreat next month and decided to get a head start on it by brushing up on our newlywed gameshow questions. We actually did pretty well the first time through, but we keep giving each other pop quizzes to keep the answers fresh in our minds. Below I've made a list of common couples questions that you and your spouse might find fun to ask each other. 1) What is your spouse's all time favorite movie? 2) What would your spouse request as their "last meal"? 3) What is your spouse's favorite pastime? 4) What percentage of housework would your husband say he does? 5) What flavor of cake did you have at your wedding? 6) What is your spouse's ideal date night? 7) Excluding people, what would your spouse say is their most prized possession? 8) At what specific sport or game will you wife say she is better than you? 9) What is your spouse&#

DIY Window Cleaner

Day two of our prep work for the Spring Cleaning Challenge! Today I'm going to give you a recipe for window cleaner.  I've also been told that using warm water and a little bit of cornstarch is a great way to clean your windows as well. I don't have a recipe or a ratio for you though. I hope you are gearing up for the Challenge, it's only 7 days away! Don't forget to leave a comment below if you want to join us for the Spring Cleaning Challenge. Sarah

Mom Rules

Being a mom has a whole lot more to do with life than changing poopy diapers, nursing, schooling, dressing, and disciplining. It's when you change that diaper or where you nurse your baby, how you go about schooling and why and how you discipline. I've made a short 3 point list of rules every mom (or parent) should have. It's short and easy to remember so you can quickly think through the questions when parenting. Rule 1 - The Golden Rule Matthew 7:12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the law and prophets." Treat your children as if they are a person, a real person who understand, cares, feels, and dreams. They are not your minions, your slaves, or even yours at all for that matter. They belong to the Lord and they are yours to nurture, love, and teach. They have a soul, and feelings. When debating if you have time to change their diaper, or heat up their lunch, or grab that pair of mittens… remember they have fe
